Corsica

Follow in our Footsteps continues this week with an insight into a lesser known island in the Med that is well worth a visit, Corsica. It’s French, bursting with history, scenery, stunning beaches and amazing food. You can also enjoy a twin centre holiday with Sardinia and catch the ferry across – two islands in one holiday!

• Explore the island, The train that runs from Calvi to Ile-Rousse is an experience but stop off at some of the lesser known spots and you will discover beautiful hidden beaches.
• Choose your accommodation wisely, there is a wide choice of villas, apartments and hotels. You can be remote or close to the towns.
• Practice your French before you travel they do prefer their own language to English.
• The roads can be challenging especially in the mountains so drive carefully or hire a guide / driver
• Take your walking boots there are plenty of super walking trails

• I loved the food, it was amazing
• I loved that it wasn’t modern and built up – very traditional
• Loved walking round Calvi at night through the cobbled streets full of small shops
• The variety of cool and quirky beach bars and restaurants right on the sand
• Loved the beautiful beaches and turquoise waters

The best time to travel is most definitely the summer months, although July and August it is super super busy. We went in June and the weather was perfect and it wasn’t too crowded.

Plenty of direct flights to both airports on the island.
