Visit Italy - Lake Garda

Follow in Our Creative Travel Director's footsteps

Lake Garda has it all, great food, sunshine & stunning scenery!

Breathtaking view of an historic jetty on the water in Italy.

My Recommendations

  • Compared to some Mediterranean resorts the price of accommodation is much more reasonable so it’s definitely worth considering for a family holiday
  • Get hold of a ferry timetable and plan days out to many of the pretty towns around the lake (which is 90 miles in circumference, more like an inland sea!)
  • Hire a private boat for the day
  • A must is the Gelato. They say the best is found in Florence but I have to disagree!
  • Spend hours wandering the picture perfect streets
  • There is so much for children to do , including one of Europe’s top theme parks, GardaLand
  • Spend a day visiting Verona or Venice which are both close by or take the train up to Milan
  • Book an afternoon at one of the many thermal spa’s in the area, you might end up smelling of eggs but you’ll look 10 years younger
  • Check out what festivals are on while you are there. When I visited in June I was lucky to catch the Mille Miglia car festival
  • Prosecco is the home grown drink in the area so why not do a vineyard visit !
  • Dinners are a long enjoyable affair in the area so take your time and enjoy the fabulous cuisine & hospitality.
  • Take a dip in the lake’s refreshing water from one on the many small beaches.
  • The south is flat and the north starts to get mountainous & it’s also windier so great for Watersports
  • Great for a 2 week stay, a 2 centre or even a short break.

What I Loved Most

  • The scenery is stunning
  • The weather, which was much warmer than I expected
  • Trying out the many different Spritz drinks Aperol, Hugo & Limoncello and the aperitivo snacks that accompany them while watching the spectacular sunsets
  • Taking the ferry to different towns
  • The shopping, none of the usual high street stores, all reasonably priced and unique.
Popular holiday accommodation right on the water at Lake Garda, Italy.

Best Time To Travel

Between April & October depending on what you want to do and the level of heat. Try & avoid August which is the main holiday month for the Italians and it can get very busy.

Enjoying the sun by the water on holiday in Italy.

How to get there?

A mere 2 hours flight from the U.K. there are plenty of regional departures.

Please get in touch to plan your dolce vita adventure to beautiful Lake Garda.
