Visit Malaysia

Follow in Our Creative Travel Director's footsteps

I’ve been very fortunate to have travelled extensively throughout Malaysia and it still remains one of my favourite Destinations.

It’s impossible to cover everything in one trip but here’s a quick guide of just some of the places you may want to pay a visit.

My Recommendations

Places to visit:

  • Kuala Lumpur – From Chinatown to Little India along with the incredible Petronas Towers and everything in between, Kuala Lumpur is one of southeast Asia’s most compelling cities.
  • Langkawi – one of the most beautifully, breathtaking islands in Malaysia, if not the world. With something for everyone, this magnificent island is the perfect holiday destination.
  • Borneo – Borneo has some of the world’s most incredible wildlife giving you the chance to see Orangutan’s in their Natural Environment. Also make sure you visit the rich equatorial rainforests and marvel at the incredible landscapes.
  • Cameron Highlands – Renowned for their tea plantations and strawberry farms, the hill country of the Cameron Highlands provides cooling respite from Malaysia’s relentless heat.
  • Penang – Visit Penang’s George Town in a trishaw as you marvel at preserved multi-coloured colonial architecture.

What I Loved Most

  • Delicious Malay cuisine is well known for its satay – small skewers of chicken or beef dipped in a spicy peanut sauce – and nasi goreng (fried rice with multiple ingredients), or nasi lemak (coconut rice with fried anchovies, peanuts, and a curry).
  • A visit to Sepilok famous for its Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. It also features Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
  • Stay at the Incredible Pangkor Laut a private island paradise which is renowned as one of Malaysia’s most iconic destinations
  • When visiting Penang pay a visit George Town and dine at one of the many outdoor hawker stands, eating as the locals do.

Best Time To Travel

The best time to visit Malaysia is commonly between December to April. With small spurts of rain here and there, the weather is hot and humid most of the time throughout the year.

Beautiful lake filled with lilypads, with traditional temples lining the water in Malaysia.

How to get there?

Malaysia Airlines, offers the only non-stop flights from the UK leaving London Heathrow several times daily and reaching Kuala Lumpur (KUL) in around 13 hours.
Other carriers offer connecting flights, some of the most popular being Qatar Airways, Etihad and Emirates via their Middle Eastern hubs.
