Cruise with Royal Caribbean

Follow in Our Creative Travel Director's footsteps

Having just returned from an extraordinary voyage aboard Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas, I'm excited to share my first-hand experience of this magnificent vessel. As someone who's passionate about helping clients find their perfect cruise holiday, I believe there's something truly special about setting sail from Southampton and exploring the world from the comfort of these innovative ships. From heart-racing adventures like the RipCord simulator to world-class dining experiences, let me take you through why Royal Caribbean continues to be a leader in modern cruising, and why Anthem of the Seas might just be your perfect match for an unforgettable holiday at sea.

My Recommendations

Choose an itinerary that has places that you haven’t been to before. Once booked try to plan your days, most importantly the port days, ensure you pre book any excursions you may want to do to avoid any disappointment.

Take clothes of all sizes as you may find that your smaller items in your wardrobe maybe a little snug after a week of delicious dining. Always pack a pair of comfy shoes/trainers for excursion walking and exploring or for visiting the outstanding onboard fitness centre.

What I Loved Most

Royal Caribbean have 28 ships located worldwide, giving you a huge choice of where to cruise and still be able to experience that outstanding quality and service. Anthem of the Seas is the one I have just returned from visiting and is currently located for the Summer months cruising in and out of Southampton, I love the simplicity of boarding in the UK, no pressure of over packing as there is no weight allowance like on a flight. Be mindful that you can only cruise so far from the UK in a week or two-week duration, saying that there are numerous itineraries available to sample so it’s not a restricted option when you cruise from the UK.

Anthem of the Seas is a stunning ship offering facilities for all ages and travellers. I loved the innovative onboard experiences, especially the thrilling RipCord by iFLY skydiving simulator, I had an absolute blast on this, who would have thought I would be quite good?! If you have a good head for heights, take a trip 300 feet above the ocean in the North Star observation pod, or enjoy bumper cars and roller skating at SeaPlex on deck 14, the largest indoor activity space at sea.

Along with fantastic experiences there is world-class dining from fine dining to casual bites, with an array of restaurants and bars to indulge your taste buds. In terms of entertainment, there was something to suit all tastes from Broadway-style shows to live music, comedy performances, and immersive multimedia spectacles, I was never bored.

To ensure you don’t miss out on anything that’s going on around the ship, Royal Caribbean produce a daily newsletter, and you also have access to the Royal App on your phone this enables you to plan your daily activities.

Cruising is my thing, I love it as it enables me to see the world but to only have to unpack once!

Best Time To Travel

This depends on where you decide to cruise, Royal Caribbean offer cruises to the Norwegian Fjords, Europe and the Med, Caribbean & Bahamas, Asia, South Pacific and North America. I can help recommend where is best to travel and when.

How to get there?

If you are not joining your ship at Southampton, we offer flights to the departure destination of your chosen cruise, generally its recommended that you fly out a day before the cruise departs as a minimum to ensure you don’t ‘miss the boat’ if you are unexpectantly delayed. We specialise in tailor-making trips for our clients, and this can include a pre or post cruise stay in a city or on a beach, it may include both its completely down to you!
